New Years Lovin'!! Quick Slim Down Tips for Bringing in 2012!

Hey loves! Hope you all has a wonderful Holiday and have enjoyed all the amazing dishes that come along with it!
If you have stuffed your belly's like myself, you may be worrying about the other holiday that is just around the corner... NEW YEARS EVE! We all want to look out best when celebrating bringing the new year in, however conveniently enough only a week prior was you may have had a weekend filled with wine, candy, and about 10 different fat filled delicious meals!! If you're like me at least you have haha. Well no worries here because I have a cure! Here are some of the ways I slim down those couple holiday pounds in under a weeks time!

1) WATER and GREEN TEA!! I swear by this more than anything. Drinking water flushes out toxins making your skin brighter and actually helping speed up your metabolism which means your belly breaks down food which equals weight loss! Green tea does the same times 10! How much do i drink exactly? Well everyone is different but I have about 6-7 glasses of water per day and 6-8 cups of green tea! Actually what I do is put two tea bags in each cup, so really I'm having 4 cups but with two teabags in each. Add a lemon to that and it's a double kick of all natural fat burning amaziness!

2) RUNNING and SQUATS! Again everyone is different but this is what helps me loose any blotting and weight quite fast. I don't do any strength training(anything involving weights) or ab work b/c if you haven't been consistently doing those specific workouts in the past 2 weeks then it can actually swell up your muscles since your body is not use to the weight, causing you too look a little more bloated. I run about 20-30 mins on the Elliptical doing what is called HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and about 30- 40 squats throughout the day. I love squats b/c for one they work! and two you can do them anywhere really, i mean you probably don't want to do them in the middle of the grocery store, but when you heating up your green tea or brushing your teeth, do a few!

3) Eat clean! When I'm trying to slim down in a weeks time I try to eat  certain foods like a lot of blueberries, black berries (two fruits that are proven to help burn fat) veggies (not broccoli, although it has a lot of good tings and i do LOVE it it can bloat your tummy a little) and lean meats. Here is a list of what a typical day consists of when I'm trying to loose some bloat in a short time:

Breakfast: Two packets of  Kahshi's Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal OR a banana with some peanut butter with a side of Chobani Greek yogurt.
Mid Morning Snack: a handful of blueberries and black berries
Lunch: Tuna sandwich, I like to put relish in mine for a sweeter taste you can also put in some celery, onions, or cranberries or all!
Afternoon Snack: Handful of a mix of almonds, blueberries and blackberries.
Dinner: Honestly with dinner I have whatever but KEEP IN MIND this one rule.... nothing greasy and fried (you might as well kiss your whole days work goodbye!), chew slowly and stop when you feel satisfied NOT full, there is a difference, AND use a medium sized plate. This way you are not able to fill the whole plate causing you to overeat.

Having a sweet craving? Have a small piece of dark chocolate, an oatmeal cookie, or some greek yogurt with fruit or all natural granola!

Salads are great as well but here is the jist... No fatty dressings, thousand island, ranch, blue cheese, creamy Italian really anything creamy are all BAND! these dressings have TONS of calories in them and are overprocesed with a lot of preservatives, which are bad for your health. I had a dietitian I know tell me once that any dressing you do use on your salad, only pour a cape full into it, best tip ever! also with salads only put clean foods in them like grilled chicken, fresh veggies, fresh fruits, stuff like that. Remember the point of a salad is to be healthy!

And that's it! The most important thing is to not starve yourself! This actually makes your body go into starvation mode, causing it to store whatever food it does get as fat which causes you to gain more!
Keep in mind everyone's body is different and these are steps that I take that work for me. But these are things that I can promise if you do them for a week or two you will see a difference in either your body, energy, skin, or ALL! :)

Happy New Years!

Shopping Alert! Do you love Express as much as I do?!?

Calling all fashion lovers!!!!! I'm going to treat you to some smart shopping tips of how I like to get more bang for my buck! Whenever I see some amazing opportunities to expand my never ending wardrobe I will be sure to share the excitement with my little lovlies! That's you guys! ;) haha

So here is a deal that caught my fashion hungry apatite today...

Express is BOGO 50% off all tops, bottoms, accessories, and scarves starting tomorrow, 11/17/2011, and all of their Holiday Preview items are on the floor!
PLUS if you have their "Holiday Passbook of Savings" which you should have gotten in your shopping bag if you've made a purchase in the past few weeks, there is a coupon good from the 16th until the 22nd for $30 off your $75 purchase, AND get ready for this one... if you spend $50 you $25 in Express cash!!!!!

If you didn't get the Passbook that's okay I got you girls covered too! b/c if you are on Express's email list then you should have received a $25 off your $75 purchase! AND if you are not on their email list then you can sign up on their website, which is even more awesome b/c you automatically get a coupon for 15% off for signing up plus you will still get the $25 coupon in you're email too!

Okay SO...want to know how I take full advantage of this amazingness?!?
You need to play your cards right and do some math in the fitting room. I first go through all of the BOGO racks and grab everything and I mean EVERYTHING in my size that catches my eye in the least. But the key is I only allow myself to grab items that are apart of the deals, unless I'm really really in love with something then I cheat a little, but anyway... I will end up in the fitting room with TONS of things to try on! I go through everything with the mindset of if I don't LOVE it then I do want it, this helps eliminate about half of what came in with. I put sort things in three piles, 1 pile of stuff I died for, 1 pile of likes not loves/maybe's, and 1 pile of absolutely nots. I give the sales girl all the items from the no pile, then I retry everything on again, and decide on the ones i like the most. This is where I start to think of things more logically with questions like, "Do I love this so much I will dream about it at night if I don't get it" or " Will I REALLY where this or will it sit in my closet with the tags attached for 2 years until I decide to give it away"  questions like that.

Once I decide on what I absolutely want I will calculate the total of everything all together including the BOGO 50% off (for the BOGO's the items that cost the least will be the ones that are half off) and the coupon, making sure that my total after all is said and done will be at $50 or a little over( like a few dollars). That way I will still get the $25 Express Cash to use for next time! :)

This is what I'll be doing tomorrow after my haircut! It's ridiculous how excited I get for these things haha!  Are you guys going to take advantage of this deal too?! Or do you know of any others going on??? Let me know in the comments below!

Bye for now lovelies!

Shhhhh! Beauty Confessions!

I was tagged on my YouTube Channel to do a 10 Beauty Confessions Tag, so I did! check out the video here!!!

I don't really hide anything so I don't really look at these as "confessions" because to be honest I don't really care if you guys know what I do for beauty lol But here is what I thought up in about 5 minuets :)

1)  I smell all beauty products before buying them! I have a really sensitive nose and hate bad smells!
2)  I can't live without my Witch Hazel! I use it for all skin blemishes, and I mean ALL!
3)  I know nothing about hair extensions. My hair is real!
4)  I won't pay for a mani or pedi. DIY baby!
5)  I only wash my hair once or twice a week! My hair is dry and thick and doesn't get greasy too easily.
6)  I struggle with ruining cute packaging. It makes me sad lol
7)  I hate shaving cream! For shaving I think it just dries out my skin and I miss more spots!
8)  I use my eye shadows as a highlighting stick!
9)  I touch my face a LOT! However I'm a germaphobe that washes her hands more than the average person
10) I have really dry lips. I've tried everything out there, they are just  to freakin stubborn!

My July Favorites!

My favorite Product I used for the month of July!
For my eyes.
CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion, in Black
Great volumizer! Seperated my messy eyelashes very well. Loved it except I'm a weirdo and my eyelashes are blonde at the very ends and I couldn't find a dark enough color in this that would coat them well. Other that that it was a LOVE!
Maybeline New York's Chic Naturals eyeshadows in, Silken Taupe and Mocha Motion.
I would mix the Silken Taupe with the pinky taupe looking color on the upper right! Stayed on all day, even without a primer! And created a subtle summer shimmer! A LOVE!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in, Bourbon.
A bronzed brown that really brought out the green in my eyes. Got lots of compliments on this little guy :) Waterproof too!  LOVE!

For my cheeks & face.

Maybeline New York's FitMe Blush in, Medium Coral
HUGE LOVE! Wore it on my cheeks everyday. Very summery and right on trend! <3
Philosophy's Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer in, Medium Tan.
Gives an instant dewy tan and pretty good coverage for a tinted moisturizer!

For my lips.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in, Bois de Rose
A versitle lip color that can be played up or down depending on how much you apply. It's sort of like a warm neutral rose if applied lightly, if applied more heavily it creates a more brighter rose. I absolutely love how this color looks on HOWEVER it is very drying for my lips and I need a good layer of lip balm over it.

Nail Polish:

Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails XTreme Wear Nail Polish in, Carribean Coral and Mint Sorbet.
I was OBSESSED with corals this past month and wore this color the most.

Skin Care

Aveeno Positively Radiant Face Wash
Has an iridescent colored soap that I loved to use in the morning to brighten and awake my skin!
St. Ives Hydrating Lotion with Vitamin E.
Very refreshing cool lotion perfect for the HEAT! Sort of smells like fresh cucumbers! YUM!

Hair Care

Pantene ProV Blonde Expressions Conditioner.
I looooooved this conditioner! I highly recommend it for my fellow processed blondes! :) My hair never felt softer and healthier the first time I used this stuff! BIG LOVE!

Fashion and Accessories

White Hot Watch- can't remember where it came from!
Trendy, classic, versatile, white, and hot. :p
Light Beige Cross Body Bag- Target on Clearance for $6.99!
Easy, versatile, trendy, great for on-the-go no struggle and fumbling around with your big chunky purse, WHEW! I use this when I go to theme parks! :)
Dark Denim Jean Shorts- Express got them for a BOGO 50% off deal, $17.99!
I loved these wore them all the time. Dressed them up and dressed them down. You should always have a pair of jean shorts in the summer that you can quickly pair with about 80% of your tops!

Check out these favorites in my YouTube video here!

Hope you enjoyed this and have a wonderful weekend!

What were some of your favorite beauty and fashion items this past month?!?

Trend Forecast... Messy Ballerina Bun!

A trend I'm in love with right now is the messy ballerina bun! This is a classy hair trend that works wonderfully in the summer heat but can also cross over into the fall!

My camera made me look so pastey!...I'm not. ha
When I rock this hair style I like to do so with flowy pieces of clothing and/or lacey pieces. As for makeup I like to keep everything very neutral then add a bright pop color with a coral or red lip! I love the look of a pulled up hairstyle with a bright lip, I think it just looks so classy and elegant with a little bit of a sexy edge!

This is also a great transition from summer to fall hairstyle. I fully plan on wearing this hairstyle in the fall with over sized sweaters, sheer neutral blouses, and SCARVES! I'm already planning out my fall outfits and accessories I would wear when I have my hair in this style! I'm even thinking of nail polishes! Oh man, Fashion Nerd Alert!  So chic! Can't wait!

Here's How:
Step 1: Flip head upside down
Step 2: Gather all hair at very top of head. I mean high so you will have a really high ponytail!
Step 3: Then loosely pull hair into a high loose ponytail
Step 4: Twist ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins
Step5: pull out hair pieces to frame face...I like to do the hair right above my ears and my little baby hairs.
Step 6: Lightly spray all over with hairspray

P.S. Another hair trend while we're on the subject of buns, is the top knot bun. This was all over the fall 11' runways and I'm also SUPER excited for this because...well this is my lounging around the house in my pj's hair! Now I can wear it anywhere and still feel chic ;) whoop!

To see an example of me wearing my hair in the ballerina bun, check out my YouTube video below!

Cupcake Nails!

Hi my little cupcake lovers!

I've been seeing a trend lately in the beauty community of girls wearing cute pastel cupcakes on their nails! Besides this making me want to whip out my apron and bake these guys so I can devour them all 2 hours later...I wanted to try the trend out myself. So I did my own easy DIY version of this deliciously adorable nail trend!

First I used my Sephora by OPI in the color  Read My Palm as my base color and waited about 5-10 mins for them to dry.

Then I got out my Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in the color White Tip for the frosting! To apply the frosting just make three lines with the nail polish that reach only half up your nail. Then fill in the bottom half leaving the tops of the lines alone. Now you frosted your cupcake! Again I waited about 10 mins to let the frosting dry.

Next I added cherries on the end of my nails with my Revlon nail polish in the color Cherries in The Snow, cute huh? haha I just added a dollop of the red nail color and gave it time to dry.

And for the finishing touch I added frosty pink sprinkles! The name of this nail polish was scratched off but it was by OPI and was just like I said, the color was a frosty pink :) I made sure my brush was not completely coverd in the color and just dabbed very lightly all over the frosting and around the cherry. You can use as little or more sprinkles as you want.

And that was IT! I am no nail artist by any means so these nails should definitely be easy to do if you want to try them yourself! Use whatever colors you want! Make them your own and have fun! :)
You can watch how I did these nails on my YouTube Channel here

Hope you're all having a fab weekend!

My Quick Fix Beauty Tips!

Here are some easy beauty tips that are affordable or things you already have in your home!

Tip #1 For Chapped Lips
Wipe off all your lipstick or lip balm and pick up a small tooth brush. Exfoliate your lips with the tooth brush by rubbing it in small circles all over your lips. Don't do this for any longer than 1 minuet, as you don't want to over exfoliate. Apply your most moisturizing lip balm. I do this about 1 or twice a week before bed myself, but you can do it up to 4 times a week if you'd like.

Tip # 2 For Luscious Lashes
Use a conditioning formula made for you lashes. I use L'Oreal's Lash Serum. I try my very best to apply this every night by gliding the wand over my top and bottom lashes and along the roots of them. This will help prevent any breakage or falling out due to eyelash curlers and mascara as well as help them grow a little too :)

Tip # 3 For Puffy Tired Eyes and Dryness
Use an eye cream every day when you wake up and night before bed. Make sure the skin is clean of any make up or dirt. I use Neutrogena's Agless Restoratives and Instant Eye Reviver. Dab whichever eye cream you choose with your ring finger and do NOT rub! Choose yours wisely as some eye creams can be to harsh, if it burns or irritates your eye causing the skin to feel sensitive and red then  return it and try another. I have sensitive skin especially for my eyes and I love the one I'm using now. Even if you don't have under eye circles or puffiness I still recommend doing this because the skin around your eye is sensitive so an eye cream is better than a face lotion for that area.

Tip # 4 For Weak, Chipped, Brittle Nails and Some Growing Power
Nailtiques in formula 2 from CVS! I used this day and night on my nails and within a few days my nails were noticeably stronger!! This stuff is extremely practical as it drys very quickly and you can use it as a top coat too! My Nails also grew twice as fast too!

Tip # 5 For Razor Burn and Blemishes
I practically bath in Witch Hazel! You can get it at CVS and Walgreens.  It's an all natural astringent that I use as a toner, for any blemishes anywhere on my body(great if you have backne!) and over any razor burns! I typically use this right after i get out of the shower wherever needed and at night after washing my face. OH, and I use a cotton ball to apply it ;)

Tip # 6 Makeup Pick Me Up Trick!
If your makeup needs a pick me up, whip out your light frosty lipstick and always keep a vanilla eyeshadow with you! I always have my Maybeline Color Sensational Lipstick in Sugared Almond with me along with a light vanilla eyeshadow. If I need to brighten up my look at work or after a beach day I use my frosty lipstick not only on my lips but on my cheekbones, temples, and down the center of my nose as a highlite! I then use a sweep of the vanilla eyeshadow under my brow bone, on the inner corner of my eyes, and the my cupids bow  above my lips. This is a quick affordable way to really freshen up your makeup.

Tip # 6 For Shiny Soft Hair
Use Olive Oil! Before bed take at least 2 day old hair and rub a palm full of olive oil all over the ends of your hair and then work the excess all the way up to your roots (Roots should have only a tiny amount or if you have greasier hair then skip the roots). Put your hair into a bun and put a towel down on your pillow and sweet dreams. Once you wake up wash and style your hair as you normally do and it should feel softer and look shinier! :)

Those are my tips for today! Check out my video on these tips on my YouTube channel at

Outfit Of The Day!

Hey Beauties!

So a few days ago I had some errands to run, the boring kind haha then I met up with my friend for some lunch in the city and to catch up a bit!! It was a rainy day in the low 60's, not summery! :( I didn't let that stop me from wearing shorts though!

Outfit #1- I paired my black shorts from Express with my white tee from Express. Sounds boring, I know but stay with me! I took these two basic wardrobe staples and made them into something better! First to add some more style to my outfit I did this one groundbreaking move... are you ready for it?....I tucked my shirt into one side of my shorts!!! Haha okay it may not be groundbreaking but it does transform the whole outfit into a more trendy stylish look :) woop! To bring some fun summery pop of color into this outfit I had the idea of pairing it with a thin neon colored belt, I was thinking a turquoise but other neon colors you could pair with a white and black combo are blue, yellow, or pink. Another way to get some summer into this outfit is to add a turquoise necklace or some long turquoise earings! Now I did not have those things unfortunately :( or at least not yet! But I had to make due with what I did have which were my stud earnings and Lia Sophia Flirty Bracelet.  I also just paired this with my flip flops with the black sequin strap, and that was my more casual handing around the house take of this outfit! And it's comfy too :)

Outfit # 2- This is what I wore to meet up with my friend for our lunch! All I did was throw on my grey blazer with the 3 quarter length sleeves from Arden B. and my black peep toed pumps! I also threw my hair into a half up half down style with one of my hair clips and barrel curled a few sections to add some natural looking movement to it. I kept my makeup neutral and natural (the way I pretty much always do it) and added my 24/7 glide on eyeliner by Urban Decay in Bourbon to the waterline of my eyes. Since I didn't have a turquoise accessory I painted my nails the color from O-P-I in Read My Palm. I used my everyday black Coach bag and I was good t go!

I felt this outfit was a classy sophisticated chic look with some added fun! Very much my usual style.

I just wanted to point out this is why having basics and staple pieces in your wardrobe are so important! My lunch date was a very last minuet thing so I had nothing planned I simply put on my black shorts longer length because they were more suitable  for the rainy weather (as suitable as shorts can be for rain) then came across my white tee with the pocket and thought "I could tuck it into one side, i guess?" Once I did that I thought okay I need something to warm this outfit up a bit but still in a summer appropriate way and that's where my blazer came in perfectly then my basic black pumps came in too! So this outfit took me about 5 minuets to pull together, that's it!! So don't ever overlook those boring basics,  pair them correctly enough with a statement necklace or fun pop of color belt or a blazer you just made that blah outfit into one that's right on trend! And that's the importance of styling!

P.S.!!! You can check out this outfit on my YouTube channel at Rate, comment, and subscribe if you like it. please! :)

Let me know below what you guys think of this outfit, I would love your feedback!! What would guys pair with this look?

Bronzed Summer Nights Makeup Look

Hey summer beauties! It’s been dark and rainy for 2 days here in Boston and I’m so over it! I can’t even go walk my dog for more than 10 minuets without some random downfall of rain :( SO I decided to come up with a bronzed SUMMERY makeup look in hopes of it bring back those warm summer nights that I am so desperately seeking! Lol

So here it is!

WARNING! This is a much tanned, bronzed, shimmery look that should be used with caution. Sunlight exposure to this look could result in blinding the eyes of on lookers. Recommended uses are: date nights, girls’ night out, and romantic strolls on the beach… AT NIGHT! You have been warned.

LOL okay maybe it’s not THAT bad but I do highly recommend this look for night time, hence the title and warnings, hehe.

First of you want to make sure that the rest of your body has some color because this IS a makeup look meant for tan skin. If you’re as lucky as me and haven’t been able to get the sun too much lately due to dreary unsummery-like weather, use a self tanner. You want to look natural and not two toned where your face is bronzed and tan and your body is pale. Not a good look ladies. For a quick fix St. Tropez makes a mousse called “Instantly Glow” that will give you an instant tan that washes off once you shower. Laura Mercier and other products at Sephora also have instant bronzers as well. For a more cheap alternative I use Jergens “Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer” for my body and I religiously use Jergens “Natural Glow Facial Moisturizer” both in medium to tan skin tones. The only thing is they won’t give you an instantly tan effect, But I lather this stuff on at night before bed and wear loose fitted clothing and I wake up with a nice glow!

Next I used Philosophy’s “Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer” in tan for your face, and let me tell you how much I ADORE this stuff! I got the .40 oz sample product of it and I am so buying this when I run out, which probably won’t be for another two weeks because you only need the smallest amount of this stuff! The original 1.7 oz bottle of this stuff is $38.00 but I believe it’s worth it because this stuff should last you all through the summer! Make sure is you use something like this your blending it into your hairline, ears, and neck there’s no yuckie lines.

Next you need a concealor that’s a shade darker than you would normally use for under your eyes, around your nose, mouth, and chin wear redness tends to occur in women and over any other blemishes on your face. Then I used my Bare Mineral Matte foundation in Medium Beige, lightly to set my moisturizer and concealor so there’s no melting from the heat.

Next I contoured my face with my Bare Minerals Bronzer in Warmth (it’s matte). Apply your bronzer into the hallows of your cheek bones, temples of your forehead, down the center of your nose, underneath your jaw bone, sides of the neck, lightly over your color bone, and BLEND BLEND BLEND!

If you want to go the extra mile you can dust a small amount of the bronzer into the crease of your eye up to the brow bone and pushed into you bottom lash line as well. Now you’re really bronzed! :)

Now eyes!! I ran out of mine but apply an eye primer first.
I applied a base color all over my lid to eliminate any redness, to do this use an eye shadow that matches your skin tones. I used Maybelline New York’s “Expert Wear Eyeshadow: in Browntones.  For this look I used L’Oreal’s “Studio Secrets” eye palette in Lavender Smokes! I LOVE this stuff! I couldn’t believe it was actually a drugstore brand!!! Firstly goes on like butter! They are so well pigmented and stayed on throughout the day! I can’t wait to go pick up some more of these eye shadows from this collection!!! Yay for inexpensive makeup that feels like high end! Okay back on track, so this particular palette has a lot of gold bronze notes to it which is perfect for this look!

First I applied the number 2 eye shadow (dusty rose like one) all over my lid. Then I applied the number 1 (amazingly gorgeous purple) onto the outer corner of my lid and up to the OUTTER corner of my crease only. Then I blended the colors to get rid of any harsh lines.

Next I used my Revlon “Luxurious Color Smokey Crayon” in Bronze Smoke 007 along my top and bottom lash line and on the water line. I also winged out my eyeliner on the top (optional).

Next it my favorite part of the whole look! I took the number 4 eye shadow (very bronzed brassy color) and applied it all over the liner we just did! Make sure to get the inner corners of the eyes to. This color is so pretty and is my favorite in this palette! Then I took the number 3 eye shadow (gold) and used it as the highlighter applying underneath my brow bone and onto the inner corners of the eyes to awaken the look some more. I then applied two coats of my CG “LashBlastFusion” mascara in black on my top lashes and one coat on the bottom. And TA DA! We have a sultry shimmery bronzed smokey eye look!!!

Then I used a my Maybelline “Color Sensational” Lipstick in Sugared Almond for a highlight on my check bones and center of my nose fallowed by a champagne powder to set it and take away from some of the stickiness of the lipstick.

Then I applied a little of my Maybelline “FITme!” blush in Medium Coral onto my cheeks and my Maybelline “Color Sensational” lipstick in Nearly there on my lips to really bring the whole look together, and your done!

I was inspired by the summer bronzed looks on all the runways and Sephora website where they did a column on all the summer gold based bronze trends!

Tune into my YouTube channel TheStylesMeow later tonight for the tutorial on this look!!! I hope you guys enjoyed this look and are having an amazing  first and second day summer with lots of sunshine and warm weather, unlike me! Haha :)

Quick Tip! Jeggings

Jeggings. Who can wear them? How to wear them? Look below some quick tips on Jeggings!

Who- These look good on someone with slim thighs, hips, and legs overall.

Not for? Apple's, because you are more top heavy and jeggings will cut you off at your waist and ankles.

What to wear? All boots, flats, flip flops, gladiator sandals, and heels. Shirts that hit below the hips.

No's No's? Sneakers and shirts that hit at the top of the hips or higher!

WARNING! Jeggings can be pretty tight on the waistband so beware of the muffin top! And camel toe may occur! EEK! :-o

Stripes, Stripes, Stripes! Which Stripes Work for You

With summer on the way stores are filling up with the classic nautical themes of warm weather, STRIPES! Now, the thing with stripes are, not all stripes work for everyone. So if you’re someone that shuns the look feeling left out or if you just aren’t sure which which ones are right for you… then fret no more for I have come bearing stripe tips for all!!

First off always keep in mind that the eye fallows the direction of the stripes. If you have some width on your midsection then thin horizontal stripes are not going to flatter you because they are drawing the eye across your body widening it’s appearance.

Vertical Stripes- These kinds of stripes are going to lengthen and add height because they’re drawing the eye downward not cutting across. So if you have a little tummy going on or are an apple shape these kinds of stripes are the most flattering on your body. Vertical stripes are also usually pretty flattering on most body shapes, however sometimes not that flattering for rulers or athletic shapes because they don’t add any curves.

Horizontal Stripes- Try to avoid wearing this stripe on the curviest part of your figure. If you are worried about looking larger, it’s best to keep these stripes in the same color family, preferably the darker colors. This is because contrasting colors add more depth and brighter colors add more width thus adding more weight. Horizontal stripes are great for ruler body shapes, they will give you the appearance of curves, and if you wear wider ones on top they will make your but seem larger.

Wide Stripes- Wide stripes will ultimately enlarge whichever body part you put them on. They can add curves to your hips and bust area when worn correctly. Keep them away from the widest part of you body.

Thin Stripes- I preferably recommend dark thin stripes to fuller figures because they’re less heavy. Vertical thin stripes are great for slimming and lengthening so they are great for petites on top or bottom, apples on top, and pears on the bottom.

My Summer Wardrobe Shopping List!

The things I feel I will die if I do not purchase this summer!!!

The Shirred Bikini Bottom
CHECK! Not only has my boyfriend been bugging me to get this, but I feel this bikini bottom is very flattering on girls on girls who have a plump in shape bum haha. After looking everywhere last summer with no luck I just happened to stumble upon one in Hollister Co. for $24.50! This is the first one I’ve seen that wasn’t online for a bagillian dollars!

Victoria's Secret "Beach Sexy String Bottom" $16
The on I got! Hollister Co. "San Padro Bay" $24.

Sailor Shorts
CHECK! I love these linen shorts with the bold buttons that create a nautical feel, perfect for summertime! I plan on wearing these with a simple tucked in tank with some sort of long cute necklace, maybe with some pearls laced throughout, some bangle set bracelets, and maybe a cute kitten heel or wedge!
Express "2 1/2" Linen Sailor Shorts" $54.90

White Shorts
I’m still looking for the right pair, I’ll know it when I see it maybe something light and flowy. I think a white pair of shorts is crucial for every girl in the summer!

Satin Shorts
I love satin! I think it’s perfect for summer and gives off that effortlessly sexy approach to an outfit.
Express "2 1/2" Satin Cuffed Shorts" $49.90

Summer Dresses!
I love summer dresses because they are so carefree and easy and PERFECT for a hot humid day when the thought of jeans shorts sticking to your swollen thighs makes you cringe. I love this satin ruffle dress from express, I’m on huge Express binge lately! For the day I would I would keep it real simple, no necklace, maybe a small stud earring or none at all, and one small simple bracelet, for shoes I would do a nice beige kitten heel or wedge, nothing to strappy or flashy, I feel the dress speaks for itself. For the night, I would pair the satin dress with some gold metallic strappy heels or a cute nude kitten heel with just some bangles and maybe a small beige or metallic belt if you can pull that off and it won’t make your body look to blocky. TIP! If you feel a belt is cutting your body in half too much then loosen it up and let it just casually drape, this creates an effortlessly chic look!
Express "Satin Ruffled Dress" $79.90

Colorful Floral Print
Whether it’s a dress or tops I reeeealy want something with a floral print in a bright color!

Summer Bag
I’m not sure the style yet I think I’ll be checking out the Coach outlets or an Aldo store, but I always feel it’s necessary to have a neutral bag for the summer that will go with most things in your wardrobe. For colors I like white, beige, or a very light light pink.

I need a sandal one or two for the beach and my more casual days, something simple but still chic like this Knotted-Strap Sandal from express, one spruced up one to add more style to my outfits like this Ruffled Sued Wedge Sandal, and a sexy sling back heel sandal for a night out or dinner.
Express "Ruffle Sued Wedge Sandals" $31.92
Express "Knotted-Strap Sandals" $19.92

Aldo "Castiglia" $90.00

Wedge and Kitten
CHECK! A nice pair of wedges and kitten heels are a summer MUST HAVE, for me at least. I already have a good pair of wedges from last year but I’m searching for the right pair of kitten heels for me I want them to be paten leather in a neutral color. At first I wasn’t sure about bringing back the kitten heels from my middle school days because they were SO HARD to walk in. But this time they have learned their lessons and made the heels a little more thick and stable so girls aren’t falling and breaking ankles everywhere this summer!

That’s all that’s on my summer shopping list for now; I’m sure something else will catch my eye and haunt my dreams until I succumb. Haha.

Tops For Your Body Shape

Here are some tips to help you shop for tops that are right for your body type! If you're not sure what body shape you are check out my "Jeans For Your Body" post, where I've explained how to figure out which one you are. All the tops shown are from Express but are simple enough that you should be able to find similar ones almost everywhere!

Hourglass- Most things will look good however, try to stay away from baggy tops and if you are big busted ,empire lined shirts, as these will actually take away from your flattering shape and add weight to your frame, AH! You will look your best in fitted shirts that cinch at the sides of the waist, accentuating your curves!  V-necks and scooped necks are also very flattering.
Hourglass shaped celebrities: Vanessa Hudgens, Megan Fox, Halle Berry, Scarlet Johansen.

Pear- Avoid shirts that hit directly at the widest part of your hips because this will make your hips and thighs appear even larger! Make sure they hit right at the smallest part of your hips. You will look best in fitted tops with some sort of shoulder detail like some ruching on the top or embellishments; this balances your shoulders out with your hips. Wider necklines are also very flattering on you (wide v-necks, boat necks, and sweetheart necks) but stay away narrow necklines. (narrow V-neck )
Side note: A thing that personally drives me NUTS is when pear shapes wear long fitted shirts below their hips because they are trying to hide them! This is a NO NO, it actually makes them appear even wider and shortens your legs :/
Pear shaped celebrities: Kim Kardashian, Beyonce Knowels, Christina Aguilera, Natalie Portman.

Apple- You want to lengthen your torso and draw attention away from your tummy. Contrary to popular belief the empire waist line tops are not good for apples, it only gives off the preggers look! Also when you are an apple shape your tops should be no shorter than hip bone because this will typically make your top appear wider. What looks best on you are v-neck blouses or cardigans with buttons that go all the way down because it’s very flattering and also slims you’re upper body. And also stay away from waist belts, it will only cut your body!
Apple shaped celebrities: Drew Barrymore, Kate Winslet, Jessica Simpson, Elizabeth Hurley.

Rulers- You can usually get away with most tops especially if you are skinny due to the fact that most runway models are skinny ruler shaped bodies. However most rulers lack curves and are usually a smaller bust, so if you want to create more curves then go for a top that cuts lower like a v-neck or scoop neck, also something flowy and/or with a lot of ruffle looks amazing on you! A good  push up bra goes a long way too ;) Also a shirt with an empire waist will add curves as well, especially one with a a v-neck!
Ruler shaped celebrities: Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightly, Jenny McCarthy.
