Jeggings. Who can wear them? How to wear them? Look below some quick tips on Jeggings!

Who- These look good on someone with slim thighs, hips, and legs overall.

Not for? Apple's, because you are more top heavy and jeggings will cut you off at your waist and ankles.

What to wear? All boots, flats, flip flops, gladiator sandals, and heels. Shirts that hit below the hips.

No's No's? Sneakers and shirts that hit at the top of the hips or higher!

WARNING! Jeggings can be pretty tight on the waistband so beware of the muffin top! And camel toe may occur! EEK! :-o

Stripes, Stripes, Stripes! Which Stripes Work for You

With summer on the way stores are filling up with the classic nautical themes of warm weather, STRIPES! Now, the thing with stripes are, not all stripes work for everyone. So if you’re someone that shuns the look feeling left out or if you just aren’t sure which which ones are right for you… then fret no more for I have come bearing stripe tips for all!!

First off always keep in mind that the eye fallows the direction of the stripes. If you have some width on your midsection then thin horizontal stripes are not going to flatter you because they are drawing the eye across your body widening it’s appearance.

Vertical Stripes- These kinds of stripes are going to lengthen and add height because they’re drawing the eye downward not cutting across. So if you have a little tummy going on or are an apple shape these kinds of stripes are the most flattering on your body. Vertical stripes are also usually pretty flattering on most body shapes, however sometimes not that flattering for rulers or athletic shapes because they don’t add any curves.

Horizontal Stripes- Try to avoid wearing this stripe on the curviest part of your figure. If you are worried about looking larger, it’s best to keep these stripes in the same color family, preferably the darker colors. This is because contrasting colors add more depth and brighter colors add more width thus adding more weight. Horizontal stripes are great for ruler body shapes, they will give you the appearance of curves, and if you wear wider ones on top they will make your but seem larger.

Wide Stripes- Wide stripes will ultimately enlarge whichever body part you put them on. They can add curves to your hips and bust area when worn correctly. Keep them away from the widest part of you body.

Thin Stripes- I preferably recommend dark thin stripes to fuller figures because they’re less heavy. Vertical thin stripes are great for slimming and lengthening so they are great for petites on top or bottom, apples on top, and pears on the bottom.

My Summer Wardrobe Shopping List!

The things I feel I will die if I do not purchase this summer!!!

The Shirred Bikini Bottom
CHECK! Not only has my boyfriend been bugging me to get this, but I feel this bikini bottom is very flattering on girls on girls who have a plump in shape bum haha. After looking everywhere last summer with no luck I just happened to stumble upon one in Hollister Co. for $24.50! This is the first one I’ve seen that wasn’t online for a bagillian dollars!

Victoria's Secret "Beach Sexy String Bottom" $16
The on I got! Hollister Co. "San Padro Bay" $24.

Sailor Shorts
CHECK! I love these linen shorts with the bold buttons that create a nautical feel, perfect for summertime! I plan on wearing these with a simple tucked in tank with some sort of long cute necklace, maybe with some pearls laced throughout, some bangle set bracelets, and maybe a cute kitten heel or wedge!
Express "2 1/2" Linen Sailor Shorts" $54.90

White Shorts
I’m still looking for the right pair, I’ll know it when I see it maybe something light and flowy. I think a white pair of shorts is crucial for every girl in the summer!

Satin Shorts
I love satin! I think it’s perfect for summer and gives off that effortlessly sexy approach to an outfit.
Express "2 1/2" Satin Cuffed Shorts" $49.90

Summer Dresses!
I love summer dresses because they are so carefree and easy and PERFECT for a hot humid day when the thought of jeans shorts sticking to your swollen thighs makes you cringe. I love this satin ruffle dress from express, I’m on huge Express binge lately! For the day I would I would keep it real simple, no necklace, maybe a small stud earring or none at all, and one small simple bracelet, for shoes I would do a nice beige kitten heel or wedge, nothing to strappy or flashy, I feel the dress speaks for itself. For the night, I would pair the satin dress with some gold metallic strappy heels or a cute nude kitten heel with just some bangles and maybe a small beige or metallic belt if you can pull that off and it won’t make your body look to blocky. TIP! If you feel a belt is cutting your body in half too much then loosen it up and let it just casually drape, this creates an effortlessly chic look!
Express "Satin Ruffled Dress" $79.90

Colorful Floral Print
Whether it’s a dress or tops I reeeealy want something with a floral print in a bright color!

Summer Bag
I’m not sure the style yet I think I’ll be checking out the Coach outlets or an Aldo store, but I always feel it’s necessary to have a neutral bag for the summer that will go with most things in your wardrobe. For colors I like white, beige, or a very light light pink.

I need a sandal one or two for the beach and my more casual days, something simple but still chic like this Knotted-Strap Sandal from express, one spruced up one to add more style to my outfits like this Ruffled Sued Wedge Sandal, and a sexy sling back heel sandal for a night out or dinner.
Express "Ruffle Sued Wedge Sandals" $31.92
Express "Knotted-Strap Sandals" $19.92

Aldo "Castiglia" $90.00

Wedge and Kitten
CHECK! A nice pair of wedges and kitten heels are a summer MUST HAVE, for me at least. I already have a good pair of wedges from last year but I’m searching for the right pair of kitten heels for me I want them to be paten leather in a neutral color. At first I wasn’t sure about bringing back the kitten heels from my middle school days because they were SO HARD to walk in. But this time they have learned their lessons and made the heels a little more thick and stable so girls aren’t falling and breaking ankles everywhere this summer!

That’s all that’s on my summer shopping list for now; I’m sure something else will catch my eye and haunt my dreams until I succumb. Haha.

Tops For Your Body Shape

Here are some tips to help you shop for tops that are right for your body type! If you're not sure what body shape you are check out my "Jeans For Your Body" post, where I've explained how to figure out which one you are. All the tops shown are from Express but are simple enough that you should be able to find similar ones almost everywhere!

Hourglass- Most things will look good however, try to stay away from baggy tops and if you are big busted ,empire lined shirts, as these will actually take away from your flattering shape and add weight to your frame, AH! You will look your best in fitted shirts that cinch at the sides of the waist, accentuating your curves!  V-necks and scooped necks are also very flattering.
Hourglass shaped celebrities: Vanessa Hudgens, Megan Fox, Halle Berry, Scarlet Johansen.

Pear- Avoid shirts that hit directly at the widest part of your hips because this will make your hips and thighs appear even larger! Make sure they hit right at the smallest part of your hips. You will look best in fitted tops with some sort of shoulder detail like some ruching on the top or embellishments; this balances your shoulders out with your hips. Wider necklines are also very flattering on you (wide v-necks, boat necks, and sweetheart necks) but stay away narrow necklines. (narrow V-neck )
Side note: A thing that personally drives me NUTS is when pear shapes wear long fitted shirts below their hips because they are trying to hide them! This is a NO NO, it actually makes them appear even wider and shortens your legs :/
Pear shaped celebrities: Kim Kardashian, Beyonce Knowels, Christina Aguilera, Natalie Portman.

Apple- You want to lengthen your torso and draw attention away from your tummy. Contrary to popular belief the empire waist line tops are not good for apples, it only gives off the preggers look! Also when you are an apple shape your tops should be no shorter than hip bone because this will typically make your top appear wider. What looks best on you are v-neck blouses or cardigans with buttons that go all the way down because it’s very flattering and also slims you’re upper body. And also stay away from waist belts, it will only cut your body!
Apple shaped celebrities: Drew Barrymore, Kate Winslet, Jessica Simpson, Elizabeth Hurley.

Rulers- You can usually get away with most tops especially if you are skinny due to the fact that most runway models are skinny ruler shaped bodies. However most rulers lack curves and are usually a smaller bust, so if you want to create more curves then go for a top that cuts lower like a v-neck or scoop neck, also something flowy and/or with a lot of ruffle looks amazing on you! A good  push up bra goes a long way too ;) Also a shirt with an empire waist will add curves as well, especially one with a a v-neck!
Ruler shaped celebrities: Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightly, Jenny McCarthy.
