Post Holiday Diet Tips | LifeStylesMeow

Hi girly's!

So I'm going to start posting more about my lifestyle tips on here for you all. I wanted to be able to share my diet, fitness, skin and hair care tips that I've discovered over the years in hopes it may be beneficial to some of you loves! I will of course still be posting mainly about fashion so in order to differentiate the two topics I naturally I decided to refer to these posts as 'LifeStylesMeow', mainly because it sounded cute! he he.

So here is my very first LifeStylesMeow kickoff post! I hope you Enjoy!

So the Holidays are over which has a tendency to leave most of us feeling a little guilty about all of the chocolate, ham, and other tasty yet high calorie foods we consumed. Now before you start kicking yourself for your indulgences, I have a few little tips that may help bring both the bloat and the guilt down a bit! These are the steps I take every time I have a day of indulgence. So feel free to grab a cup of Green Tea (for it's antioxidant benefits that is!) and take note of some healthy and refreshing ways to detox your beautiful body.

Step 1.

Have a good Breakfast

Most people make the horrible mistake of waking up the next morning, and taking a vow that they'll eat super light all day, only to find themselves at standing in front of the fridge at 1 AM scarfing down any and all leftovers found.... or at least that's in my case.

Even if you do succeed in eating close to nothing the next day it WILL catch up to you one way or another. So what I do to avoid this is simply go back to my regular morning breakfast that I would typically have. I'm not talking a bowl of weaties, I'm talking a breakfast that's filling, healthy, and energizing!

I highly recommend trying out my everyday breakfast which leaves you feeling satisfied, energized, and is helpful in breaking down fats! I will do a whole post on all the benefits of this delicious treat in the near future but in the meantime here is my super easy "recipe" if you want to call it that, haha.

-Kaylee's breakfast of the champions!

2 Packets of Quaker Oats Raisin & Spice Oatmeal
Unsweetend Almond Milk
Spoonful of Justin's Maple Almond Butter
Sprinkle of Ground Cinnamon

Step 2.

Green Tea

Drinking Green Tea not only speeds up your metabolism but it also helps to detox your body! I like to think of it as a good way to hit the reset button in your tummy. After days of eating heavy foods I will typically drink anywhere between 4-8 cups!

Step 3.

Veggies & Fruits Galore

I personally love certain fruits and veggies, so eating them is a way of life for me. It wasn't always this way though, so don't feel bad if you can't name your top five favorites. I do however recommend you find out, like today! Eating fruits and veggies after a day of junk is the best thing for your beautiful body and it will thank you by regulating your digestive track and leaving you feeling rejuvenated! There are many ways you can incorporate veggies and fruits into your diet with salads, smoothies, or just simply snacking on a carrot.

Step 4.

The Secret of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider vinegar has a ton of benefits for your body, especially when it comes to bringing down tummy bloat. It boosts your metabolism, provides digestive enzymes, regulates your blood sugar levels (JUST what you need after the holidays), and helps you stay in control of your apatite. There are a lot of light and healthy ways to use Apple Cider Vinegar. Here's a couple:

-The Drink!
4 oz. of an organic no added sugar Juice
1 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
1-3 Ice Cubes
Stir Well

-Salad Dressings
2 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp of Honey
1 Sqeezes Lemon Wedge
A dash of Sea salt to taste
Mix and enjoy over a fresh salad

Step 5.

Step away from the Leftovers

Here's my mantra with leftovers: If you made it give it away, If you're offered it turn it away!
Leftovers are the ultimate temptation that only about 1 out of 10 people are strong enough to resist. If you're not one of those people it's okay, I'm not either so why tease ourselves right? I'm not interested in leftovers when they're being offered. What's better is to cut off all ties to holiday food and get right back into your usual eating habits or better!

Step 6.

Water, Water, Water!

I'm not going to spend a ton of time going into why water is an essential step to aiding your body in recovering from binge eating, simply because you can find articles on this everywhere! My tip to you however is that you get the biggest nalgene or sports bottle you have, keep it filled up, and by your side at all times during the day. In my experience if you don't have water near you all day then you're not going to get that recommended 8 glasses a day (FYI everyone's recommendation is different but that's for another time). However keeping it by you all day, you will find yourself reaching for it unconsciously. But keep that sucker filled!

What are some ways that you like to detox from the holidays? Share your tips and recipes with the rest of us below!

Let me know if you like these kinds of posts and leave requests for future ones! I love you all and end your day knowing that you are all beautiful to me :)

Top 5 Fall 2013 Runway Hairstyles

Happy Halloween lovies!

Can you believe it's the last day of October already!? I can't. Even though it's now the month of prepping for winter and Christmas, we're still technically in fall. Which means we're still in need of cute hairstyles for, football games to impress that boy, to make work less of a drag,  stand out at parties, and Thanksgiving.

So I've recently been obsessing over different hair styles and the one thing I noticed about this years fall/winter fashion shows, were that the hair was made to look effortless yet thoughtful. Think low loose pony tails with a little volume at the crown or barely there waves that you in fact put there yourself.

So grab your cup of coffee and dish of Halloween candy, and enjoy my 5 Runway Inspired Hairstyles that I've recently fell in love with:

Happy Monday loves!

This fall and winter there is a new must have to keep you warm and cozy, it's what I like to refer to as the "Chic Sweatshirt"! These are made to amp up the style factor of you outfit with embellished sleeves, unique prints, and bold colors.

I love this trend for it's fresh new take on the basic pullover; elevating the sweatshirt from a safe laid back piece to an eye popping statement moment, all while still keeping us warm and comfortable.

This trend is also more versatile than you may think at first. Pair it with jeans and booties for an effortlessly chic look, a faux leather skirt and tights for some edge, or over a patterned blouse for a mixed print moment.

Fall Fashion 2013 Color Trends

Hello loves!

So I had planned to upload a video on this first but due to some technical issues I have to postpone it until solved! In the meantime I thought I would just go ahead and give you a quick shortened version of the video which is, as titled above, about trending colors for fall!!

This fall is not like your usual fall season closet, filled with the usual gray's, taupe's, army greens, dark vampy reds, brown's, and black (although some of those are still involved!)This particular fall we get to play with bright eye popping colors! The Pantone Color Report calls this fall "The Palette of many moods!"

How: Either as an accent to your look in handbags, shoes, scarves, jewelry, and even nail polish. Or as a subtle yet still eye catching statement piece in exaggerated coats, trousers, blazers, sweaters!
Outfit Inspiration: Try it as a statement piece with a black skirt paired with open toe black booties, a neutral sweater paired off with a pink coat or blazer. Go even more bold, with black leather leggings, a striking pink sweater, and black and white printed trench coat!

3) Samba Mamba Red

Be Trendy NOT a Trend Slave!

#1 Rule of Style: Style should not feel RESTRICTING!

Hey loves!

So season to season there is always going to be a new trend, you can put money down on it! This is why it's important to understand how to be "Trendy" and not fall victim to becoming a "Trend Slave"!

What is a Trend Slave? A trend slave is someone who is constantly purchasing new trends over and over with every change of season, month, week, and sometimes days. All in all being a trend slave can is one way to empty out your bank account in no time!

Now while I'm all about expressing yourself through fashion and I understand that sometimes we wear things for shock value, for some of us that's not always the intention or it's just not in our budget! So for you guys I have complied 3 steps to making sure you're on-trend while not falling into the "Trend Slave" category! Enjoy!

1) Know your style!

You have to know YOUR style first, this is the first and most important step behind being trendy! Once you know your style and have set wardrobe of  your own Staples and Essentials this makes it easier to incorporate trends into the wardrobe you've already created! If you're unsure of your own style I already have a video on my YouTube channel here- where I give you guys some tips on how to figure out your style and also what "Style" means! And no I do not suggest putting yourself into a specific category, but you will have to watch to figure out what I'm talking about!

2) Prep before Shopping!

Here comes another link ha! I did a whole entire video on this last week here- as well as blog post here- In these I explained to you guys the simplest way to know what's currently trending and how to know if those trends are ones you should be buying or not. Firstly its important to know whats trending because, of course, if you don't know what's on trend this year or season then you're style isn't going to be current. Also the prepping is a crucial step to make sure you're not becoming a trend slave! Why? Because like I explain fully in my" How to Be On-Trend" video, this is when you, take notes of what trends you like. Afterwards you then take inventory of what you already have, then makes a list of your Trends Wishlist and Trend Needs. Then you narrow it all down into a shopping list of what you're really committed to buying. This type of prepping prevents you from buying a ton of trends all at once, or ones that don't suit your style and wardrobe. NOW because you prepped you're not going out into the danger zone unarmed!

3) One Trend at a Time

Instead of going crazy and buying all the trends on your list it's always good to start with 1-3 trends first, especially if your on a budget. That way you can try it out to see if it's really something you love and suits your lifestyle. I personally like to start with an accessory if I'm unsure about a particular trend. (if it's a color or a pattern of course) Just for example, let's say that you wanted to try out the new baby pink trench coat trend that a ton of fashion editors and who's who were rocking at NYFW this fall, however you never ever even touched the color. I would then suggest to start to incorporate the color into your wardrobe by starting with a baby pink scarf, or a clutch, or even a statement necklace. That way your most likely not dropping $200-$500 on that oversize trench coat only to wear it once or twice. If you find you love the color and still want that coat then go for it!

Those are my tips for you lovelies! Are you trying out any new trends or planning to soon? How are you going to incorporate them into your style?!

Stay Chic.

2013 Fall Fashion Essentials

I don't know how many times I can say that fall is my FAVORITE time of the year for fashion! I believe it's the best time to experiment with layering, textures, patterns, mixing and matching, ect. I always talk to you guys about the importance of basic and investing in your staple items, but, to have fun in keep your style updated it's just as important to have your seasonal essentials!

Here are some of my fall fashion essentials, some I already have in my possession and others are on my wish list! Enjoy!

1) Bold Coat
Bold coats were everywhere on the runways of fall fashion shows so it was no surprise how many you could spot on the streets of New York City during this years fashion week! The point of these coats, are to make a statement so this could be done with a eye popping color like a cobalt blue, or with exaggerated lengths like a long menswear inspired trench.

2) Booties
I have started to acquire a little collection of these leather and sued gems. Booties go perfectly with your skirts, dresses, and jeans, therefore an absolute fall essential!

3) A Fall Dress
There is nothing more easy and chic than a fall dress styled with a jacket, tall boots or heels, and your favorite statement accessory! I love the form fitting fall dresses have made a comeback this season because it's so effortless while of course being chic. These actually bring me back to my elementary days where all I wore to school were dresses with my tights!

4) A Casual Blazer
I'm loving the longer blazers paired with a graphic tee look this year. It's become an essential for me because it's not only versatile but it's also become somewhat of a dependable fashion buddy for me. It's so easy when your in hurry to just throw on a pair of jeans and a tee but spend that extra millisecond to top the look off with your casual blazer and maybe some cute shoes and statement necklace and you went from basic to BAM in not time ;)

5) Statement Skirts
Some of you may be like, how is this an essential Kayee? I will tell you, I have become a huge fan of statement skirts this year. I'm talking skirts in prints, sequins, leather, long and short! They are surprisingly a good fall back item for when you're feeling a bit frumpy. Just pair it with a basic top or sweater along with tights and boots or a tee with a jacket or long cardi and you just stepped up your a game in a snap!

6) Leopard Printed Accessories
I've been a leopard print junkie for about 4 years now but this year is without a doubt the year of the leopard! I always say, the perfect way too incorporate trends into your style is with accessories! Some leopard beauties I have my eye out for this fall include, shoes, clutches, and scarves!

Have you or are you going to rock any of these items this year?! What are your Fall Fashion Essentials this year?!! I'm always looking for some new ideas so let me know by leaving a comment!

Thank you for reading & I hope you're having an amazing day! If not make it the best day you can :)

How to "Pimp" Your Wardrobe &/or Be On-Trend

Hi Loves!

So I've done a lot of videos and posts on how to start and/or build you wardrobe. The first step to all of these video is knowing your style, then I try to show you guys all the essential and basic pieces you should have, then how to create different looks out of them. If you haven't seen those videos They are all linked below this post!

For some you may be like, "Okay Kaylee so I have all these basics and essentials, now what?" Now it's time to spice things up a little and get some pieces in your wardrobe that really showcase your style and creative expression! The trick to doing this is to welcome in a few "Statement" pieces into your closet along with some trends for each season.

**Just a side note to those of you who are new to my blog and YouTube Channel:  I always highly recommend to NOT spend a ton of money on trends! Always spend a little more on good quality basics but when it comes to trends, they often dye somewhere down the road so these are usually not the right kind of items to invest in.

So if you're feeling that your wardrobe  is lacking some life and color then keep reading to find some quick and easy tips on how to "Pimp" your Wardrobe!

Look to What's Trending This Season

I try to consistently post a new video every few months too update you guys of the trends for that particular season, you can find these on my YouTube channel by following this link, but educating yourself on what's trending is a quick and easy way to know what to add to your wardrobe in order to make it current. My suggestion and something that I do is, make a list of the trends that you like and feel would suit your style. (If your not sure what you Style is watch my "How to Find your Style" video here:

Take Inventory of your Closet

What this means is, before you go shopping for new trends, make sure to check your closet for your what you are in need of. Let's say that you look at your closet and notice that you have a lot of wedges from summer, but now it's fall and you have only one pair of basic black boots. That's great that you have a pair of basic boots that you can pair with everything in your closet, but that gives you leeway to go out and purchase those leopard printed booties you had your eye on! So essentially you're looking at your wardrobe and saying, "Okay this is what I do have, this is what I need (like some type of basic or essential), and this is what I WANT!" - i.e. your trends and statements needs!

Make Your Wishlist

Now that you have an idea of what's trending and what you style needs are, it's time to write out your wish list! I like to put my wishlist on paper in a note book that I use for specifically for shopping, then when I'm feeling antsy and in desperate need of new pieces, I go to my wish list and my bank account. That way before I run out and start over spending on items I don't need, I have a list to keep me grounded and remind me of what I could use...then I have my bank account to remind me of how much I can spend ha. I then write all the top items I want that day in my phone note pad and I'm ready to go!

I hope you guys found these tricks usefull?! Will you be "Pimping out" your style now after reading this? If so how?!

I have more tips to come including more specific ways you can upgrade your basics with trends and statement pieces that fit YOUR style! These tips will be in my "How to Pimp Your Wardrobe" video, I will be posting later tonight on my YouTube channel! So don't forget you can find it here and if you would like, you can always Subscribe to my channel too so you never miss a new fashion video! It's really easy to do, it's free, and it shows your support of my channel and blog! Don't forget to say hi to in the comments! :)

I hope you all have an amazing day, and stay chic!

SiHo Clothing GIVEAWAY!

Hi loves!!!

I have exciting news today! I just posted a new video on my channel that shows you a few quick and easy ways transition some of your summer clothing into fall! Along with that I featured some amazing clothes from the company SiHo!

SiHo was kind enough to allow me to pick out two items to review for them. Now I'm really reeeally careful when it comes to reviewing anything for you guys ESPECIALLY clothes! I've been contacted by a lot of start up clothing company's and already established ones too, however I politely turned them all down because either there clothes weren't my style,...trashy... or  I didn't care for their website, felt the quality was poor, ect. SiHo however struck my eye! I went to their website and though "okay so far so good" it was clean, straight to the point, and more importantly had gorgeous clothes! I then took a look at the materials in the clothes which are 50% Modal and 50% Cotton. That mix of fabrics is amazingly soft as well as high quality! So all in all they had my approval. Once I got the items I was ecstatic to see that the XS dress actually fit my petite frame since that never happens and the top i wanted was exactly how i'd imagined! So they delivered ;)

If you would like a chance to get a SiHo piece of your choice for FREE.... then I suggest you take a lookaroo at the GIVEAWAY I'm holding on my YouTube Channel! There will be TWO winners, plus I have a bunch of extra entry options for you all, so you can be entered in up to 8 times!

Also, I thought I should mention that the Giveaway video shows few ways that you can transition summer pieces into fall, featuring the two SiHo items I received. I know that September can be tough with the on again off again cold to hot weather; and that it's always good when you can still use that pricey pair of shorts from this summer in the fall! So, let me know in the comments section if you guys would like me to do more outfits that showcase ways you can bring those cute summer clothes into your newer fall wardrobe!

So again, these are high price point, high quality, and highly chic clothes! So give them a look on their website,, and enter my giveaway by clicking on the video below if you'd like! :)

Chic Dorm Room & Bedroom Essentials for the Style Savvy Girl!

Hi loves!

So all you college ladies are probably at school, all settled in and ready for the year ahead...or maybe not so much for some ;) ha. If you are anything like I was in college (and now) then you probably like your room of slumber to be surrounded by pretty yet functional items! I recently added a "5 Must haves for Dorms/Bedrooms" video to my College Style Guide Series on my YouTube channel, TheStylesMeow ( The series was focused around what any fashion conscious college girl needed from Wardrobe Essentials to Lookbooks, to Easy on the Go Hairstyles! This series doesn't just benefit College girls though, anyone can pick up tips and outfit ideas from this series! So check it out if you haven't already, I would really apreciate it and feel free to leave any feedback! :) Here's the link:

Onto the whole point of this post haha! Here are 5 Items both College students and non-college students can use to get their room more chic and use to make YOU more chic! Enjoy!

This Pin Cushion Dress Form is not only going to give your room a more Parisian esq' feel but it serves as a functional purpose to! Oin your everyday Jewely to it, like I did with the leaf necklace, and then you can easily grab your accessories on the way out the door!
The mirrored frame serves TWO purposes! Mirrors help to open up a space and make it feel bigger than it actually is! it's kind of like how a window in a tiny room makes you feel less claustrophobic... unless that's just me? Now I know dorm rooms are small, but before you run out and buy 4 mirrors to hang on ever wall, get a little creative! You can buy a LOT of mirrored furniture pieces, light fixtures, and other accessories now, like my picture frame :)

Push Pin Form- TJMaxx
Mirrored Frame - Arden B. years ago!
Places carry them: Pier One, Pottery Barn, Target, TJMaxx, Bed Bath & Beyond

Get a nice sturdy drop hanger to conserve space in closets and also to use for your jeans or scarves, like I do!

Drop Hanger- Target

This stuff is amazing for when you're in a hurry! Just spray it all over your wrinkled top or dress, smooth over with you hands and wrinkled are gone! I'm in love with this stuff!

Magic Wrinkle Remover - Some Grocery Stores in the Laundry Isle

This combo is an essential for dorms! I use to always study with my favorite candle burning while sipping some sort of cafine infused beverage from my favorite coffee mug! It just helped to relax me a little :) Now I still do this on the regular for stress relief!

Okay love bugs that's everything!!! What are some of your dorm room or bedroom essentials to make your life a little less chaotic, stressed, and chic?!?

Check out my Youtube video below too if you'd like!

College Wardrobe Essentials For a Chic Style

Hi Loves!

It's true, back to school time is HERE... right now.... literally! Ha ha.

I know some of you are not so excited about summer being over and having to anticipate the stresses of school life, BUT there's always fashion to look forward to!

I recently decided to do a College Style Guide Series on my YouTube Channel since it seems their aren't all that many helpful videos for what college students should bring for fashion related items . I remember freshman year of college I was so stressed out about what I needed to buy AFTER orientation, when I saw all the things people had that I didn't think of, like wristlets, ha ha. I called my mom that day begging her to bring me cash when she came to visit so that I wouldn't feel like a looser (I mean my major was fashion for goodness sake!)

It's a little tough to transition from high school life to college life, so I put together a list of 11 items that are (in my opinion) a college girls must have! So don't worry, I got you covered college ladies! ;)

These wardrobe pieces aren't just for a college girl, though. These are essentials anyone can benefit from! So even if your not a college chicky, take a look at my College Wardrobe Essentials video, and you might find some helpful tips for your closet too! :)

Enjoy & Stay Chic!
