Top Fashion Week Street Style Trends

Hi loves,

I've been keeping a close fashion obsessed eye on all the best street style shots from fashion week. So of course - naturally I have made a mental list of my top picks. Rather than keeping this mental soiree of colors, prints, and 3 dimensional shapes all to myself, I'm of course going to share it with you all. For those of you wondering why this may be of relevance to yourself - Fashion week is the perfect time to take a look at what all the editors, designers, and bloggers are wearing in order to get yourself ready for the upcoming seasons trends and must haves. In this case of course I'm talking about trends for Spring 2014!

So here is a roundup of my top street style picks for all the fashion weeks around the world this season.

1) The Coat
You can easily transform your look with a classic trench or a statement print. Coats have become a must have for all fashion goers. Plus being on the east coast myself - girls gotta stay warm!

2) The Prints
Florals, gingham, hand paint, pop art, and other playfull prints - This spring will be fun.

3) 3 Dimensional
3D florals and embellishments as well as fluffy coats and accessories are THE trends to try. My inner 5 year old is obsessing over this whimsical cool girl approach to spring.

4) Colorful
If you've been afraid to play with color all these years - it's time to stop. Eye popping vivid brights that border on the side of neon are the way to go.

Blue Hues For Spring 2014

So while looking through all the glorious street style shots from NYC and London Fashion Week, I noticed one recurring color amongst the shuffle of prints, embellishments, and leather. It seems as though there is yet another must have color to throw into your spring wardrobe mix - and that gorgeous hue would be BLUE. Not just any blue though, this particular blue is a vivid. electric, almost jeweled tone blue. This is an easy one as you can add the new it color with almost anything! If you want my personal style choice though - I'm choosing to use it as a pop color in a new handbag and shoe. Below I put together a little collage of colorful inspirations with both affordable and not so affordable options. Remember my collages are to inspire though, so grab a cup of tea and and start internet browsing.

What way will you add this new trending color into your Spring wardrobe?!
I want to know! Comment below loves.

'IT' Shoe For Spring 2014 | The Essentials

Reportedly, the Mule is the shoe to have this Spring. What use to be known as a clunky backless shoe used for gardening and soup kitchens - or covered in feathers for the bedroom, has undergone a runway approved makeover, Thank God. For Spring 2014 designers took a youthful approach to the shoe with new architectural shapes, exciting embellishments, and the ever classic stiletto heel.

I for one am smitten, as well as ready and willing to toss my usual 6" wedges aside for a fresh new approach to spring with what I can't believe I'm saying - a mule?

What do you think of Spring 2014's New 'It' Shoe?

Will you be wearing the revamped mule like me this spring?!

Leave your opinions below - I would love to here what you think!

Friday Loves

... Turned into Saturday loves?

Sorry this a bit delayed loves. I had an extremely busy hectic Friday but it was an essential part of my week that I wanted to share for my "Friday" loves!

A weekly roundup up some little moments and items that made my week a little more special.

{My mom has been my Valentine my whole life}

{Birthday balloons for my Grandmothers Party with her two "happy"colors - Baby Blue & Yellow}

{Valentines Day breakfast with love notes

{And the nightstand changes again - I love constantly making little changes here & there to freshen things up}

{My snow angels - They love it when we have a blizzard and rarely want to come back inside}

Not to sound completely cheesy but my week was filled with lots of family time, laughter, and love - It's true. From a spontaneous Wednesday night dinner outing with my loud quirky family, a crazy blizzard bringing so much joy to my dogs, and to a huge family party for my beloved 'fancy' grandmother (inside joke) - this week had a whole lot of family in it. The best part for me was getting my Valentine's day card from my mom and last night when Justin lit the whole downstairs with candles and excitedly handed me my red roses with a love note! We usually do big fancy things - but this was the most simply sweetest thing by far. I love him :)

What was the best part of your week?!
Share your end of the week loves in the comments - I would love to hear what memory or thing helped make your week that much more special!

Happy Day-after Valentines Day!

New Chic & Classic Handbags in 2014 | The Essentials

It's essential for every fashion conscious girl to have that one dependable classic bag you invest a bit more in - or in some cases your boyfriend invests a bit more in *wink* It's durable, versatile, and can usually fit a small child in it - not that I would recommend it. However even the classics need a little updating from time to time. Here are some new classic handbags that caught my expensive little eye!

What I Would Bring to NYC Fashion Week Fall 2014

Happy Saturday Loves!

I've been obsessively reading about New York  fashion week since I was fifteen. Along with fishing through street style reports and Instagram posts by the fashion week goers themselves, I believe if my biggest dream were to ever come true - being invited to fashion week - I would know exactly what to bring. Why should you care about what to bring to fashion week? Because, it's a great way to get new ideas and tricks from  hand bag essentials to traveling in style. Read on to see what this dreamer girl would bring to Fall 2014's NYC Fashion Week.

For the Suitcase

1. A Versatile Staple Coat
NYC in February translates to - brrrr!  I imagine I would splurge on a timeless coat in spring color in order to stay both warm and current.

Untitled #56

2. An Eye-Catching Clutch or Handbag
Either something printed or bright. I would depend on this to liven  up an outfit and to maybe get the attention of a photog?

Untitled #58

3. A Classic Pump & A Snow Boot
Let's not forget that chances of snow is high this time of year. So although you can never go wrong with a good go to pump - you can go wrong when that pump slides across a sheet of ice. There a plenty of options for a chic winter boot to pair with your favorite skinnies.

Untitled #59

4. Statement Jewelry
If I'm being completely honest - you better believe my fashion week outfits would be all planned out from head to toe with several plan B's. However still if your trip is pro-longed or you need to recycle that sweater you wore on Friday, statement jewelry changes it all. This is a good tip for traveling anywhere!

Untitled #60

For the Purse

1. A Red & Nude Lipstick
Running around from show to show along with mingling among other goers, my lipstick is bound to go south. I would make sure to give myself options in case say my day look needed to turn into a night look due to a last minuet after party invite?

                          Untitled #61

2. Compact Mirror
I don't really need to explain why for this one.

Untitled #57

3. Gloves
I would travel with both a colorful fun glove and a basic black maybe in Faux leather.

Untitled #62

4. Umbrella
If i could get my hands on an umbrella that stood up to my definition of chic I would, but a black would never look tacky.

Untitled #63

5. Water & Almonds
Because I'm always thirsty and I can only imagine how dry it probably is in some of the venues. As for almonds it's a great pick me up when you start to feel hungry and is great for people like me with low blood sugar. Also I'm always hungry.

                        Untitled #64

6. Hand Lotion
I would pick something with light yet refreshing scent that of course hydrates well.

                         Untitled #65

What would you bring to Fashion Week in the Winter or for any of your travels?
Have you ever been to any fashion weeks?!

& Have an amazing rest of your day!

Friday Loves & Dreams

A weekly roundup up some little moments and items that made my week a little more special.

{Agave Smoothing Trio has saved my damaged hair this week! Not sure how I lived without out.}
Giveaway on my channel here:

{I can't get enough of my blue bag - it's wide enough to carry essentials & chic enough for most looks}

{My homemade vegan pumpkin cupcakes went pretty well with my late accompanied by this weeks snow blizzard!}

{After a long term relationship to Sephora's 'Sangria' liner I've made a complete 180 and tossed it aside for my new love - a nude Milani Liner in non other than...'Nude'}

{I'm usually not one for floral scented candles but this one is amazing}

Not to sound cliche but I really don't know where this week went. My week was filled mostly with YouTube videos baking a ginormous batter of muffins, and I'm not sure what else? Do you ever have weeks where you literally don't know where all your time went too? I think when this happens, it's a sign that we need to slow down a bit and take an hour or so to ourselves. I think tonight I'll make an effort to reflect on my dreams and goals a bit, maybe even make a run to staples to get some new planners and calenders... Organizing freak alert right here! Sounds like a perfect ending to my work week.

Will you take some YOU time tonight? What do you like to do to clear your mind and reflect on your dreams? I would love to know!

January Favorites 2014

Unlike a lot of monthly favorites you see on blogs and YouTube, mine are typically full of embellished fabrics, lace appliques, hints of leather, and lustrous accessories. As some of you are fully aware I center both my channel and blog around anything and everything fashion, therefore my monthly favorites involve a lot of new trends and clothing favorites. Don't get me wrong I still do love a new eye liner or skin care mask, so you will still see bits and pieces of  little beauty goodies in each months collection too. As for this past month I have been slowly starting to build up my spring wardrobe therefore you will find hints of pastels complemented by lace florals and a new cross-body bag that I've fell in love with. As for beauty I've felt my hair could use a little help lately with a couple new items that are sure to be favs for months ahead.

In order
{Express Pink Top, Express White Tank, Express Peter Pan Collar, Target Embellished Sweatshirt}

{Crossbody Bag: Target Limited Edition Collection, Ring: WhiteHouseBlackMarket}

{Essie in 'adore-a-ball': Target & X Formula by Sephora in 'Outrageous': Sephora}

{Herbal Essences Naked Sheer Shine Mist: Target  & AG Hair Cosmetics Colour Care Sterling Silver: Ulta}

Super Bowl Food & Drink For the Girly Girl

From commercials with beer chugging bromances and practically naked women, to the overindulgence of cheese filled dips and  plates of buffalo wings, let's be honest with with ourselves girls, Super Bowls were meant for and centered around the men. But what about us girls who are just as into the excitement - or in my case dragged into it kicking and screaming - I don't know about you guys but my stomach can only take so many heavy foods and drinks in one day.

So while our men may prefer high calorie, spicy, meat filled foods for the occasion, I don't see a problem with catering to you and your girlfriends taste preference while you're at it. So whip up some of these healthy alternatives tonight and I guarantee it will be appreciated from your fellow girly girls.

Roasted Egg Plant Dip
A light and healthy dip highly recommended by a good friend of mine. Pass up that high calorie buffalo dip and delve into this delicious treat.

1 Med. Eggplant
2 Red Bell Pepper, seeded
1 Red Onion, pealed
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
3 Tbsp of Olive oil
1 1/2 Tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 Tbsp of tomato paste

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2) Cut eggplant, bell pepper, and onion into 1-inch cubes.
3) Toss into large bowl with garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
4) Spread on on a baking sheet and roast for 45 minutes until vegetable are lightly browned and soft then let cool
5) Place vegetables in a food processor fitted with a steel blade, add tomato paste, and pulse 3-4 times
6) Salt for taste

Frozen Fudge-Dipped Strawberry Mudslide
The ultimate girl version of a Super Bowl beverage. Only 175 calories, this drink is both tasty and appealing. Serve with a few chocolate dipped

1 1/2 ounces vodka or 1 1/2 ounces canfield's chocolate fudge diet soda
1 sugar-free fudgsicle (the 40-calorie single version)
3 frozen strawberries, slightly thawed
1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze
1/2 ounce torani sugar-free strawberry syrup
1 tablespoon sugar-free chocolate syrup
3 1/2 ounces Splenda sugar substitute
3/4 cup crushed ice

1) Remove fudge pop from the wooden stick and place in blender.
2) Place all other ingredients, including ice, in the blender with 1 oz. of water.
3) Blend on the highest speed until well blended (add a bit more water if you prefer your drink less thick).
4) Pour, and if desired, top with fat-free Reddi-Whip! (Don't forget to add 5 cals for each 2-tbsp. squirt.).

Quinoi Turkey Meatballs
Perfect alternative to your classic meatball sub, not to mention the healthy benefits your providing your body with from the quinoi.

1/2 Cup of Quino
1 Pound Ground Turkey (99% lean)
1/4 Cup diced shallot
1/4 cup of diced red onion
1/4 cup of red pepper
4 garlic cloves minced
1/3 cup egg whites
3 Tblsp flax meal
1/2 tesspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat the oven to 450° degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray
  1. Place quinoa and 1⅓ cup water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling strongly, reduce to low heat, cover, and cook until all water is absorbed.
  2.  Transfer  quinoa to a medium mixing bowl, and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. While quinoa is cooling, add all remaining ingredients to the bowl. Using your hands or a spoon, mix until well combined.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into balls that are a little smaller than a golf ball. I used a small ice cream scooper. You can also shape into traditional burger patties too!
  5. Evenly space turkey balls on the baking sheet. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, until slightly browned and crispy on top. Place the sheet in the oven and cook the meatballs until they’re slightly browned and crispy on top. Serve with warmed marinara sauce!

Will you be trying any of these? Do you have any healthy party foods you like? Share your recipes in the comments.

Hair Report: Runway Inspired Hair Trends for Spring

Happy Saturday!

So just like with our style, keeping up with hair trends can be both interesting and refreshing. That's why I like to look to runways when in need of some 'hairspiration' to updated my look. I have to say I was especially inspired by the flocks of undone waves and romantic coifs that were sprinkled all over the Spring 2014 runways. With an array of new rumpled waves, tousled chignons, and pony's topped with chic artistic touches, I'm happy to report that it looks as though we have some new innovative styles to show off this spring... or now.

Updo's with tousled tangles framing the face, pinned and teased clumps, and a disheveled "I got here on the back of my boyfriends motorcycle" appearance all while still coming out the other side looking chic.

Golden Details
Hair accessories have made a huge comeback from their butterfly clipped appearance in the 90's. And the metal of choice is gold.

Old World Inspired Braids
Romantic, undone, and messy. These braids were modeled in over the head crowns and plaits.

                                                        Undone by thestylesmeow on Polyvore
Low and Messy Chignons
Just like the braids wear these messy and undone. For an added effort and touch of romance top it off with some florals.

Stop by my YouTube channel for some tutorials on how to get some of these styles:

Will you try any of these hair trends out for spring?
